Stuttgarter Saloniker

Stuttgarter Saloniker

The Stuttgarter Saloniker is a versatile Salon Music Orchestra with a wide-ranging repertoire, spanning classical music, jazz, folk, and music for dance soirées. It was founded 30 years ago and is directed by Patrick Siben.

The ensemble’s core configuration consists of a piano, violin, cello, and double bass. However, it can expand to include up to 18 musicians, adding a second violin, clarinet, oboe, flute, trumpet, trombone, percussion, and additional wind players.

Depending on the line-up, the Saloniker transform into the Saloniker String and Swing Orchestra, the Saloniker Salon Orquesta Sabor Latino or the Saloniker Tango Quattro.

The repertoire focuses on music from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, encompassing a variety of styles. The works are performed in original arrangements for small ensembles, designed to fit the intimate settings of the salons of the Belle Époque.

Based at the Villa Franck in Murrhardt, the Stuttgarter Saloniker performs mainly in southwest Germany and the Palatinate, the home region of founder and director Patrick Siben.

The New Year’s concerts are followed by spring concerts, open-air summer serenades as well as concerts on the water during which musicians play on a raft. Autumn brings concerts in old wine presses throughout Baden-Württemberg, and children look forward to Advent concerts, which prepare Chrismas in music.

Over the years, this group of musicians from diverse backgrounds has developed more than 40 different programmes, presented at concerts, dance evenings, private and public events, cultural and political gatherings, in concert halls as well as at its residence, the Villa Franck in Murrhardt. The villa, built in 1907 as a summer retreat for industrialist Robert Franck, head of the Caro coffee factory in Ludwigsburg, adds to the ensemble’s historic charm.
