Stuttgart Youth Opera

JOiN

The name JOiN (Junge Oper im Nord) refers to the Youth Opera division of Stuttgart Opera.

Founded in 1997 by Klaus Zehelein, the Stuttgart Youth Opera section has, in recent years, developed a groundbreaking repertoire of operas for young audiences. It has gained international recognition for its innovative educational concepts in musical theatre.

Since the 2018/19 season, the Youth Opera has had its own dedicated venue in northern Stuttgart, located near the opera’s three rehearsal stages.

The Youth Opera aims to further enhance its communication strategy, expand its repertoire, and increase the number of performances to better cater to the needs of young audiences.

The mission of JOiN is to serve as a bridge between artists and audiences, between grand opera and children’s and youth opera, between professionals and amateurs, between observing and participating, and between different art forms, disciplines, and genres.
